CranioSacral Therapy was pioneered and developed by Osteopathic Physician, John E. Upledger following extensive scientific studies from 1975 to 1983 at Michigan State University, where he served as a clinical researcher and Professor of Biomechanics.
CST is a gentle method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system-comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.
Using soft touch generally no greater than five grams, or about the weight of a nickle, practitioners release restrictions in the CranioSacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system.
The goal of the CranioSacral Therapist is to be as unobtrusive as possible in evaluating and treating the CranioSacral system. The closer to the ideal that the therapist can work, the better the results.
BENEFITS
OF
CranioSacral Therapy
By complementing the body’s natural healing process, CST is increasingly used as a preventative health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction, including:
CranioSacral Therapy is performed with the client lying comfortably on a treatment table.
The client is fully dressed but may be most comfortable during the treatment wearing loosely fitting clothing.
Relaxing music will be played, if you wish, during the treatment.
Prior to your treatment you will fill out a medical history form and discuss your CST treatment needs with the Therapist.
After that all you need to do is relax and experience.
